Bus catches fire in Berkhamsted as fuel spill leads to delays

A bus caught fire in Berkhamsted earlier this afternoon, with the road being blocked as authorities remain on the scene.

An Arriva double decker bus pulled to the side of the road on London Road, between Berkhamsted and Bourne End, after it started billowing with smoke.

Two fire engines from Hemel Hempstead attended, and the fire was doused at 3.04pm.

Highways teams are currently at the scene as there has also been fuel spill. The road is blocked and commuters are recommended to avoid the area and find an alternative route.
