A charitable trust is gearing up for the return of its annual conker festival.
Staff at the Box Moor Trust are already collecting conkers ahead of the festival which will take place on Sunday, October 21, on Blackbirds Moor, Hemel Hempstead.
The Gazette joined the trust’s estate manager Phil Pennington as he set out to collect horse chestnuts from trust land.
Phil said that this year is not a good one for conkers, and that staff are attempting to collect the seeds at the right time, early enough to stop them drying out.
