An application to extend the clubhouse at Little Hay golf course was approved by Dacorum Borough Council’s planning committee last night.

At the development control meeting in Hemel Hempstead’s Civic Centre, all attending councillors voted in favour of the single-storey extension to the front of the Bovingdon building.

Councillor John Whitman, who proposed the approval, said: “I think the clubhouse needs to be bigger, and I am all for it.”

The improvement comes alongside proposals by owner Sportspace, which has run Little Hay since 2007, to completely remodel the course to combat falling revenues and membership subscriptions.

Concerns have been raised by objectors about the impact the revamp, including the use of recovered waste to remodel the course, could have on the environment and wildlife. The plans require approval from Dacorum Borough and Herts County Councils.
