THE 44th annual Berkhamsted Walk made £1,000 more than last year – and now its biggest fundraisers have been awarded with out-of-doors goodies.
The event on Sunday, May 13, raised £7,341 including Gift Aid for The Children’s Society.
Organiser Ann Browning said: “The sun shone and the walkers came out with such smiles of delight and enjoyment.
“It was a perfect day for walking, even the bluebells were glowing and everyone was really generous with their sponsorship and donations.”
Berkhamsted woman Janet Eller raised more than any other individual taking part in the event, raking £286 for the good cause. Hemel Hempstead walkers from The Optometrists raised more than any other group – £414.
Each was rewarded with £100 in goodies from The Complete Outdoors, Bourne End – and some of them are being held in our photo.
The Optometrists drew lots and decided that just two of the group’s walkers should receive £50 worth of goodies each.
