AN athletic teen tested his skills on the Olympic race track more than a month before the Games begins.

Jonathan Rendall, 18, of Brownlow Road, Berkhamsted, completed the 100m in 12.41 seconds – coming fifth overall out of more than 40 competitors.

Jonathan, who goes to John F Kennedy Catholic School in Hemel Hempstead, said: “What an amazing experience.

“It’s incredible just to step inside the huge stadium and get a sense of what the athletes might experience.”

Jonathan, who is a member of the Dacorum and Tring Athletics Club, won a place in the race as part of a Twitter competition by sport drinks company Powerade.

He was also taught sprinting techniques by record-breaking heptathlete Jessica Ennis’s coach, Toni Minichiello, and Irish sprinter Derval O’Rourke as part of the event held on Thursday, May 3.
