PRIMARY and reception pupils will swap sites in a merger between two independent schools.
Haresfoot School, currently for three to 11-year-olds, and Happy Hares Day Nursery will become Berkhamsted Pre-Prep School and Berkhamsted Day Nursery from September 2012, serving children aged up to seven.
Berkhamsted Prep School, in Doctor’s Commons Road, will just be for seven to 11-year-olds.
Its current reception school pupils will be moved to the school’s new Chesham Road site, currently Haresfoot School. Primary pupils who go there now will have to go to Berkhamsted Prep School.
Berkhamsted School principal Mark Steed said: “While the prep school’s location means that its older pupils benefit from close links to the senior school sites, there are space constraints.
“We can’t offer the extensive outdoor facilities that are at Haresfoot, an important aspect of education for younger children.”
