SCOUTS, cubs and beavers have been out and about doing good deeds to help others.

It began with the 1st Berkhamsted Scout Group and others filling seven bags with litter from around town last Monday.

Beaver Henry Willis, six, of nearby Doctors Commons Road, said: “I thought it was going to be boring, but actually it was really fun.”

On Saturday, about 40 beavers, cubs and scouts from the First Gossoms End Scouts litter-picked.

They targeted playgrounds, the streets of Berkhamsted, the bed of the River Bulbourne and the banks of the Grand Union Canal.

They collected £150 for scout funds – and made a further £70 in donations the next day from bag-packing in B&Q, Hemel Hempstead.

Leader Fiona Hinton said: “They all really enjoyed their Clean Up Berkhamsted mission.”
