Be green and recycle Christmas trees

ENSURE to embark on a greener lifestyle in the New Year by recycling Christmas trees and cards.

Christmas tree recycling schemes will be running across Hemel Hempstead, Berkhamsted and Tring on Sunday, January 9.

Gardeners who take their own bag can even take away their tree chippings for flower beds. Any leftover chippings will be used for plant bedding across Dacorum.

The scheme will be at Water Lane Car Park in Berkhamsted and Cupid Green Depot in Redbourn Road, Hemel Hempstead, from 9.30am to 4pm.

Residents can also drop off their trees at Tring Garden centre in Bulbourne Road on the same day between 10.30am and 4.30pm. However, the trees will not be shredded until the following day and those wanting chippings should return on Monday with a bag between 9.30am and 12.30pm.

Cards can be recycled between January 3 and 31 but dropping them in special bins at TK Maxx, Marks and Spencer and HomeSense stores.

In return the shops will donate money to the Woodland Trust which the charity will use for planting trees.
