The Berkhamsted Lions August Bank Holiday fete will be bigger and better this year than ever before, say its organisers.
The event at Berkhamsted Sports Club – home to the town’s cricket pitches – is 29 years old, but will now have extended opening hours, lasting from 11am and 5pm.
Organiser Emma Pearce said: “Berkhamsted’s idyllic cricket ground is to be transformed into a series of lion’s dens.”
Each den will have a different theme, with a series of activities going on inside of it.
The Go Safari Den will have a climbing wall and go-karting, and the Feeding Time or Watering Hole Den will serve refreshments.
There will be an animal farm, pony rides, owls and a dog show in the Pets Den.
There will also be Punch and Judy shows and performances by Julian the Juggler and Pepe the Clown.
Fete entry is £3 on the day or £2.50 in advance from Knight Frank estate agents in Berkhamsted, Tring Brewery’s shop or at the Lions’ Berkhamsted Market stall on the next two Saturdays.
