Berkhamsted Quilters have been sewing for Sunnyside Rural Trust – and this is what they have come up with.
It will be raffled off for the Dacorum learning disabilities charity during the group’s one-day exhibition from 10am to 5pm on Saturday at Northchurch Social Centre in Bell Lane. Admission is £3.
Tickets are £1 each and can be bought from outside of Berkhamsted’s Greggs on Thursday or from the charity’s Hemel Food Garden or allotments shop in New Road, Northchurch.
Each member of the Berkhamsted Quilters brought in scraps of material and everyone contributed to making the single quilt that they are raffling off.
They say they chose a vibrant theme and the quilt is a beautiful mixture of bright colours.
The group has being going for 30 years and includes members with little experience to people who teach quilting and are really proficient.
Berkhamsted Quilter Linda Bose said: “It’s great getting inspiration from others in the group and learning more.
“I grew up with quilts. My grandmother made them, but it is only since I retired that I have found the time to pursue this lovely hobby.
“I find I do more as part of a group and of course it is a very sociable activity to do together.”
Sunnyside Rural Trust works with adults with learning disabilities offering real work skills through horticulture on three sites in Berkhamsted, Northchurch and Hemel Hempstead.
