HUNDREDS of people have signed up for a 5.3-mile countryside run.

The Aldbury Cross Country Challenge starts and finishes in the village’s Stocks Road and takes runners through the Ashridge Estate and over The Ridgeway.

Gazette reporter David O’Neill and photographer Dave Satchel will be taking part in the annual event, known for its steep hills.

Dave, 68, has completed the race 17 times previously, but it will be David’s first attempt.

He said: “It’s going to be a tough race, and I’ll struggle to keep up with Dave.”

The race is at 11am on Sunday. You can register on the day to take part. Entry costs £11 to £13.
