THERE will be a dog show, bouncy castle, face painting and pony rides during an event on Saturday.
It will be at Two Oaks Pony Sanctuary in Darr’s Lane, Northchurch, from noon to 4pm.
There will also be a ‘name the foal’ competition to christen a pregnant mare’s baby.
The sanctuary looks after not just abandoned horses and ponies, but also a chickens, ducks in an on-site pond, and a three-year-old pig called Bella.
Bella was taken in from a tiny back garden by an owner who could not look after her any more.
Now she sits on her bottom and raises her front legs for a banana – a trick she may perform at the centre’s open day on Saturday.
But owner Carol Houlihan said: “She only does it when she feels like it. The last time I tried, she just walked back into her house.”
The centre had a grand opening in June, but now it’s time for another fundraiser. Carol said: “We want to let people know we are here.” Entry is 50p for adults and free for those under 12.
