ARCHAEOLOGISTS have unearthed fresh evidence of an ancient monastery in the grounds of the Ashridge Business School, demolished more than 500 years ago.
Berkhamsted Archaeological Society members have been working at the site for the last two years.
Their latest findings include the remnants of walls, parts of what looks like a doorway and a coin dating back the reign of Queen Mary in Tudor times.
Member Brendon Sparks said: “What we are looking at is the remains of a site of immense importance.
“We’re currently involved in piecing together a complex jigsaw of historical information.
“It is going to take further excavations and research to determine the full picture.”
