REAL life Christmas angels are needed to make sure a festive dinner is a hit with guests.
Hemel Hempstead’s Salvation Army has put out a call for volunteers to ensure the smooth running of its Christmas Day dinner.
> Drivers are needed to take people to and from the get together at The Salvation Army’s base in Waterhouse Street. They will be required to pick up guests from their homes at midday and take them back at around 3.30pm.
The good cause puts on the festive meal to ensure nobody is alone on the big day.
Helpers are also needed to deliver meals-on-wheels to homes from 11am to 12.30pm.
> Cheery festive lovers are wanted to serve up the Christmas dinner from 11am to 4pm.
Helpers should be happy to have a chat with guests and give their time to those less fortunate.
> Working behind the scenes, volunteers are needed on Christmas Eve to prepare food for the dinner, set up the hall and put together food packs. Help is needed from 9am to 2pm.
> Homelessness charity DENS has also put out a call for assistance.
Volunteers are needed on Christmas Eve to pack hampers in the morning and to deliver festive goodies to families during the afternoon.
Afternoon volunteers will need to have their own vehicles to carry out deliveries.
