A 10 year old schoolgirl has raised more than £1,500 in less than a week in sponsorship for donating 30cm of her hair to charity.
Georgina Hoffman, of Berkhamsted, is supporting the Little Princess Trust, which makes wigs for sick youngsters who have lost their hair through cancer treatment.
She was inspired to have the chop after her mother’s teenage god-daughter took on a similar charity challenge.
Georgina’s mum Alison said: “People have always really admired her hair and I’m quite surprised that she is prepared to have it cut off.
“I’m just really surprised but I’m also really proud.”
Georgina’s hair is around 55cm long but after the big snip at the town’s Zen hairdressers on Saturday, March 14 she will be sporting a bob hairstyle.

Georgina is the second Berkhamsted youngster to have her hair cut in aid of the trust - 10 year old Bethany Champ has so far raised more than £1,000 through her haircut.
