Teenagers from Hemel Hempstead’s Gobstoppers Theatre Company have put on a theatre tour of Shakespeare’s The Comedy of Errors in Cornwall.
The four-day residential course at The Minack Theatre centred on making the bard’s work accessible to young people and to enthuse them about the language and performance of the plays.
This was done through Shakespearian workshops and making the plays relevant to today’s society.
The teenagers, aged 14 and 18 years old, were inspired and excited about performing Shakespeare as well as being thrilled to have the privilege of performing at such a prestigious venue in front of a global audience of more than 800 people.
Victoria Williams, who runs Gobstoppers with her husband Chris, said: “The experience has been superb. Not only have we combined 25 children from Hertfordshire and Cornwall, we produced a fantastic production.”
Gobstoppers will return to Cornwall next year and the course is open to young actors from Dacorum.
