Tring Festival Company performers are poised to move in when this year’s Tringe comedy festival takes its final bow at Pendley’s Court Theatre on Saturday night.
Because on Tuesday the curtain goes up on their summer show, an all singing, all dancing production of High School Musical Jr.
The show is based on the hit Disney franchise and features a string of familiar toe-tappers, and will run until Saturday at the Tring venue.
More than 70 children aged eight to 15 are involved in the show.
Director Matthew Bowles said “I am very proud to be directing such a talented group. The demand to be a part of the production was unprecedented.
“We had more than 150 children at auditions and had to add extra dates to accommodate the demand.
“The cast have been working very hard every Sunday since March singing, dancing and acting and we can’t wait to begin performances.”
“The High School Musical franchise is one of Disney’s most successful, and firmly brings Disney in to the 21st Century.
“The production team and I have thoroughly enjoyed working with the cast and in particular watching the children develop both as performers and young people.
“Teaching the children the values of fun and professionalism that should be part of theatre at any level, have been at the core of the production and I believe this will be evident in the upcoming performances.
“The show is great fun for audiences of all ages.”
