Two new year concerts offer marvellous music for good causes

Two concerts planned for early in the new year will serve up a wide selection of works in aid of good causes.

First up at St John’s Church in Boxmoor is a presentation by the Music At St John’s project which offers selections by Handel, Holst and Grieg on Saturday, January 11.

The St John’s string ensemble conducted by Rufus Frowde will be joined by soprano soloists Katherine Joyce and Bimbi Shaw-Cotterill for the concert, which begins at 7.30pm. You can get full details of the programme online at www.masj.org.uk.

Over at Tring’s parish church on the same night, the Herts Chamber Orchestra will be performing works by Dvorak, Ravel, Finzi and Haydn with Paul Barritt both conducting and showcased as violin soloist.

The concert also starts at 7.30pm and tickets are £15 on the door or £12 in advance (£10 concessions, free for under 12s).
