The Vale Musical Society will be holding auditions for their coming production of Doctor Dolittle on Sunday, June 16 at 2pm in the Anthony Hall, Aston Clinton.

The show tells the story of a wacky but kind doctor who can talk to animals, and was turned into a hit film with Rex Harrison as the eponymous medical man before Eddie Murphy created a crasser Hollywood take on the popular Hugh Lofting tale.

It features popular musical numbers including Talk to the Animals, I’ve Never Seen Anything Like It and My Friend The Doctor.

The show’s sponsor, Patrick Dale, has a lot in common with the main character, he is the vet at Springwell Veterinary Surgery in Tring.

Rehearsals will take place in the Anthony Hall on Tuesday evenings at 8pm, starting with a pre-audition rehearsal on Tuesday, June 11. The show is scheduled for November 13 to 16 at The Court Theatre, Pendley.

In addition to the main adult roles, a large ensemble of all ages is required to play villagers, circus folk, islanders and animals. For more information contact Jackie Farrow 0790 528 2341.
