Grumpy? No, the hormones are talking...

If they’re on TV and talking about the many irritations in their lives, women are apt to be dubbed either loose or grumpy.

But adapt the same formula to a touring stage show and the title to remember is Hormonal Housewives.

An extended sketch show, Hormonal Housewives calls on the same elements that proved such a draw in The Vagina Monologues and Hot Flush – so you can be sure that the audience will feature few, if any, brave men.

That’s not to say that there’s been no masculine input – the show was created Julie Coombe and John MacIsaac, and Julie is one of the key members of the cast.

Previous incarnations of the show have featured marquee names like Carol Smillie and Margi Clarke, and this time around the spotlight is on one-time pop icon Toyah Willcox.

Charismatic, outspoken and impossible to categorise, Toyah’s career has spanned 30 rollercoaster years which have included 12 top 40 singles, two books, more than 40 stage plays, 10 feature films and TV programmes as diverse as The Good Sex Guide Late, Watchdog and Songs Of Praise.

Former Hollyoaks actress Sarah Jane Buckley also joins the team, and the trio will be sharing the laughs at Watford’s Colosseum next Tuesday, April 9.

It’s billed as a show for all the women whose man is more Top Gear bumbler James May than erotic fiction hero Christian Grey, covering everything that makes today’s woman tick, or get ticked off.

That list includes the joys of teenagers, to the challenge of IKEA, the madness of holiday reps and the insanity of DIY.

Tickets for the show start at £17.50, call 0845 075 3993 or visit www.watfordcolosseum.co.uk to book yours.
