Pianist Viv McLean, who has performed with the Dacorum Symphony Orchestra several times over the years, will be tackling one of the most challenging pieces in the classical repertoire when he returns to Berkhamsted this weekend.
Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto Number 3 is a mountain for any musician to climb, and the difficulties it poses were explored in the hit Hollywood film Shine.
The orchestra will also be performing Beethoven’s Egmont Overture, the adagietto from Mahler’s Fifth Symphony and dances from The Three-Cornered Hat by De Falla.
The concert starts at 3.30pm at the Centenary Theatre, Berkhamsted School, Kings Road, Berkhamsted.
Tickets are £12 (concessions £10) for adults and are free to anyone aged 18 and under, available from 01442 260155 or Claire Lloyd Properties, 173 High Street, Berkhamsted on 01442 879996.
