A varied programme of new hits and evergreen dramas features on the Watford Palace programme for the month ahead.

Opening next Tuesday and running until Saturday, March 8 is Errol John’s Moon On A Rainbow Shawl , which wowed critics and audiences alike during an acclaimed National Theatre run.

It’s set in post-war Trinidad where neighbours drink, brawl, make love, look out for each other and crave a better life – even if that means setting off for fresh start in England.

Arriving on Tuesday, March 11 and running through to the following Saturday is an Alan Ayckbourn special.

If features the Scarborough Shakespeare’s latest work, Arrivals And Departures, set in a London rail terminus where an elaborate trap to capture an elusive terrorist quickly descends into near-farce.

The same cast will be reviving the classic comedy of social commentary, Time of My Life, in which a family celebrates a birthday surrounded by the ghosts of their dysfunctional past and an uncertain future, and Farcicals, two frivolously funny one-act pieces that are full of philandering, fun, love, lust and lost trousers.

Also on the bill is the first performance by the Phoenix Dance Theatre at the Palace, scheduled for Tuesday, March 18.
