Oscar-winning drama Argo is the first film to be shown in the new season put together by the movie buffs at Berkhamsted Film Society.
Ben Affleck’s true life tale of the far-fetched scheme to rescue American hostages from strife-torn Iran in 1980 by smuggling them out as a bogus film crew won a string of awards, including the Oscar for best picture, after its release last year.
It will be screened on Monday and Tuesday evening at the society’s Berkhamsted Civic Centre base, and guest tickets for all screenings are available for £5. You can also become a member for the season – all the details can be found at www.berkhamstedfilmsociety.co.uk.
The society screens a wide selection of films from all over the world, from recent main stream releases to arthouse offerings.
The season continues on Monday and Tuesday, September 23 and 24 with Untouchable, the award-winning French drama about the unlikely friendship between a quadriplegic millionaire and his street-smart ex-con carer.
Full details of the programme, which runs through until next April, are posted on the society’s website.
