Popular touring theatre company Oddsocks are heading back to the Gaddesden Estate on the outskirts of Hemel Hempstead for the fourth year running next week.

The company has built up a reputation for family-friendly Shakespeare productions over the last 23 years and the 2013 show will see the tongue in cheek team tackle the Bard’s shortest and most farcical of comedies.

The Comedy of Errors finds a servant and master from far off Syracuse arrive in Ephesus in search of their long-lost twin brothers. In no time they are trapped in a terrifying chain of chaotic events.

Tormented by a wild wife, a moody mistress, challenged by a crazy jeweller and damned by a demonic doctor, the terrified twosome run headlong into a climactic happy ending which defies all probability.

It’s billed as a summer slice of Turkish delight which is not to be missed.

Oddsocks will be performing at Gaddesden Estate, Bridens Camp, from 7.30pm on Tuesday, July 2. Gates open at 6pm and there will be a Pimms bar, locally produced burgers, strawberries and cream, cakes, and hot drinks available.

Advance tickets range from £15 to £8.50 and cost more on the day, when there will be no credit card facilities available on site.

You can book tickets from the Oddsocks website or through the estate office on 01442 252421.

Organisers advise everyone to wear appropriate clothing for the open air performance, and people are welcome to bring their own own chairs and rugs.
