Unplugged, and outstanding

BERKHAMSTED Jazz Club welcomes Acoustic Triangle, one of the most creative and distinctive groups in the world, to the Civic Centre this Sunday.

Celebrating 10 hugely successful years of touring and recording the talented ensemble is stopping off in Berko as part of a short UK birthday tour.

Equally at home in classical music and jazz, their amazing unamplified music attempts to blur the perceived boundaries between the genres.

Their music contains a wide variety of influences – from ancient themes and folk styles through impressionism and the jazz era to the avant-garde.

The group was formed by double bass player Malcolm Creese who combines his jazz and classical performances with extensive film, television and recording work.

Tim Garland on reeds is a composer, Grammy-winning arranger, virtuoso saxophone and bass clarinet player.

And Gwilym Simcock is widely regarded as one of the most gifted pianists and imaginative composers on the British scene.

Much of the trio’s repertoire is specially composed by Garland and Simcock.

Don’t miss an incredible performance at the Civic Centre, Berkhamsted on Sunday, October 9 at 7.30pm.
