KINGS Langley Light Opera Company will perform a musical extravaganza showcasing Broadway hits through the years at the Kings Langley Community Centre from next Tuesday.

Accompanied by two grand pianos the show will feature songs and dancing from favourite musicals like South Pacific, Guys and Dolls, Sweet Charity, Anything Goes, Hairspray, Starlight Express and lots more.

Razzledazzle 2009 went down so well that the company was repeatedly asked to perform acts from the show at subsequent revues and fundraising events.

Performer and KLLOC secretary Denise Wolmark said: “If you can’t decide on which musical to see this is a brilliant choice because it has a great selection of songs from some 17 musicals and has the added attraction of being performed locally.”

During preparations for this year’s show the cast were saddened to learn of the death of their much-loved chairman and president Tri Sleat – one of the founding members of the KLLOC in 1948.

To honour her memory and unstinting service to the society – from leading lady to tea lady – they are spurred on to perform at their very best.

Cast member Lisa Dussek said: “Tri was always an encouragement to everyone in all the shows, particularly to the younger and newer members.

“She created such a family atmosphere amongst us all and will be sorely missed. But, being Tri, she would have wanted the show to go on and for us to make her proud, so that’s what we’re aiming to do.”

The show is at the Kings Langley Community Centre, the Nap, Kings Langley from Tuesday, March 27 to Friday, March 30 at 7.45pm and Saturday, March 31 at 2.15pm and 7.30pm.
