Folk fans will be setting out for a Sunday treat in Abbots Langley this weekend as two top performers from north of the border feature in an acoustic showcase.
Fiona Hunter and Mike Vass are both members of the acclaimed Scottish folk band Malinky, and are touring to launch Fiona’s debut solo album.
Their show is a mixture of traditional Scots songs sung by Fiona – who accompanies herself on cello and shruti box – and exciting instrumental arrangements from Mike, who plays both fiddle and tenor guitar.
Award-winning Malinky have toured extensively across the UK, Europe and the United States. Fiona has twice been nominated Scots Singer of the Year and Mike won the Composer of the Year title in 2012.
They will be performing at Abbots Langley Community Centre at 3pm on Sunday, as part of the venue’s eclectic programme of winter acoustic concerts organised by Tim and Lesley Brooks.
The concerts have been running since 2010 and last month featured the dulcet tones of the Berkhamsted Ukelele Random Players, who are better known as BURP.
Doors open at 2.30pm and tickets are £10 which includes tea or coffee and cake in the interval. There will also be range of craft stalls at the Gallows Hill Lane venue.
You can reserve tickets by email on email@example.com or by phoning 01923 264536.
