The next Chroma concert at the Greene Room at Berkhamsted’s Kings Arms will feature an inspiring collection of music from Europe and South America for flute, cello and harp performed by Chroma members Sarah O’Flynn Helen Sharp and Clare O’Connell .
The programme will include music by Debussy, Ravel, Henriette Renié, De Falla, Villa Lobos, Piazolla and David Bruce, and a specially commissioned new work by the young Brazilian composer Leonardo Margutti.
Born in Belo Horizonte, Brazil in 1978, Leonardo studied music composition at the Federal University of Minas Gerais.
In 2007 he read for a Masters with a scholarship from the Alban Programme, and subsequently a PHD at King’s College London funded by the Brazilian Research Council.
His music has been performed in numerous venues in Brazil and the UK. Leonardo recently won the Tinta Fresca 2013 competition for orchestral composition in Brazil with the piece Em Sete, earning a commission from the Orquestra Filarmônica de Minas Gerais to be premiered in the 2014 concert season
His music has also been performed and recorded by the Lontano Ensemble, released in the London New Voices album.
Tickets for the concert on Sunday, March 30, which starts at 7pm are £15 ( £12 concessions) with U18s free, subject to availability.
