Flocking around the Christmas tree

JOIN the Aeolian Singers for a feast of festive music in the beautiful setting of the Christmas Tree Festival at St John’s Church in Boxmoor next Saturday.

The singers will be performing both ancient and modern seasonal songs and carols and there will be plenty of opportunity for the audience to belt out some of the traditional favourites.

The programme includes a 20th century festive gem, Fantasia On Christmas Carols by Vaughan Williams.

Soloist Steve Hawksley will perform the short work for baritone and chorus with the group.

Another highlight will be the appearance of the choir from Hemel’s George Street Primary School who will be led by Nyree O’Brien in their own selection of Christmas songs.

Musical director Stephen Jones will conduct the Aeolian Singers accompanied by organist Nicholas King, director of music at St John’s, and pianist Anna Le Hair.

Drinks and mince pies will be served in the interval.

Aeolian Singers in association with Music at St John’s Christmas Tree Festival will perform Carols for Choir and Audience at St John’s Church, Boxmoor, HP1 1JY on Saturday, December 17 at 7.30pm.
