Libraries in Dacorum are linking up for the county’s annual celebration of literature, with a string of events planned in the weeks to come.
Litfest 13 kicks off on Monday at Tring Library with a session on how to start a book group.
Local author Jenny Barden will be talking about her debut novel Mistress of the Sea at Hemel Hempstead Library, next Wednesday, March 13.
And Berkhamsted’s library will host an illustrated talk on Jane Austen’s London by Louise Allen on Tuesday, March 19.
Berkhamsted will also see Abraham Lincoln expert Andrew Houseman talking about the famous Gettysburg Address on the 150th anniversary of that memorable speech on Tuesday, April 16.
Tickets for all events are £5 with £2.50 concessions, and organisers are urging book-lovers to reserve their spaces early to avoid disappointment.
There are events at libraries all over the country, with some famous names talking about their work. Most evening sessions start at 7.15pm.
You can make a phone booking on 01707 281533 and find out what else the festival has to offer online at www.hertsdirect.org/libraries
