After five sellout concerts at Pendley’s Court Theatre in recent years, it’s clear that the appearance of Ken Colyer’s Legacy New Orleans Jazz Band at the same venue will be a red letter day for fans of classic jazz.
Although guiding light Ken Colyer is no longer with us, the current incarnation of the band he left behind mainly consists of musicians who played extensively with the master, who was credited with launching the New Orleans trad jazz revival in the UK in the early 1950s .
The line-up includes pianist Ray Smith, Ken’s longest serving keyboard ace, who is flying in from Holland especially for this concert.
Colin Bowden, the longest- serving drummer in Ken’s band, will also be there, and Jamaican-born jazz, blues and gospel singer Christine Tyrrel will be providing vocals.
The concert starts at 8pm and tickets are £15, with £13.50 concessions available.
