A new inclusive theatre group for adults of all abilities will open for the first time in Boxmoor on Monday – and the first six weeks are free.

Herts Inclusive Theatre already runs one successful Acting Up session in Stanmore, and the new group will be based at the Social Centre For The Blind in Alston Road, Boxmoor.

It will meet on Mondays from 1.30pm to 3.30pm for an initial six week run, which will be free of charge.

After a summer break, when the group gets back in action in September sessions will cost £3.

Herts Inclusive Theatre artistic director Caroline England said: “The group is open to adults of all abilities to try their hand at acting, movement, and singing in a supportive, nurturing environment. There will also be opportunities to take part in performances and community events.

Spaces are limited so booking is essential – call 07857 986364 or email admin@hit-theatre.org.uk.

The workshops are run by the company’s senior workshop leader Julian Meredith with support from trained volunteers.

Herts Inclusive Theatre is a non-profit organisation offering children, young people and adults, many of whom have learning and physical disabilities, the opportunity to participate in drama, dance and music in an inclusive and safe environment.

Many HIT participants can often feel alienated from mainstream activities and their involvement creates an opportunity and a platform for them to express themselves.
