Results of a radar scan which took place below Hemel Hempstead’s Old Town, where a mysterious tomb was uncovered by road contractors, are yet to be revealed.

Technology such as that which unearthed the 15th century king Richard III in a Leicester car park was put to use at the site in Saint Mary’s Close car park last week.

It is not yet known what, if anything, the scan has revealed.

A spokesman for the St Albans Diocese, responsible for St Mary’s Church which backs on to the site, promised that an announcement will be made once the investigation is complete.
