If you’ve never taken a trip to the Chiltern Open Air Museum why not take advantage of Saturday’s Museums at Night session, when the Chalfont St Giles site will be open from 7pm to 11pm.
The museum’s collection of historic buildings will be lit up by candles and lanterns for visitors to explore – and there will also be famous fairytale characters and even a unicorn to meet.
Family craft activities will be on offer, including making ivy garlands and animal masks.
Children can enter the fancy dress competition for the best fairy, goblin or fairytale character costume, with the prize of a family ticket to the museum.
There’s a family Fairytale Tour laid on at 8.30pm, taking in the historic buildings and working Victorian farm, and the chance to listen to some bedtime stories, followed by a behind-the-scenes candlelit tour at 9.30pm.
Museum director Sue Shave said: “This is a unique experience to enjoy, exploring our historic buildings after hours. Don’t forget to bring your torches!”
