Seasoned performer Barrie Beck didn’t have to think long and hard about the best way to raise sponsorship cash for the Hospice Of St Francis.
Barrie is one of the dedicated band of dance students being put through their paces as part of this year’s Strictly Learn Dancing event, which comes to a climax this weekend in a sellout showcase at Berkhamsted’s Centenary Hall.
As well as learning how to dance with the help of professional tutors, contestants commit to raising cash for the Northchurch-based good cause.
And Barrie is staging a special performance of his one-man show Snow What? on Sunday, March 29, at the Breakspeare School in Gallows Hill Lane, Abbots Langley.
Snow What? – first performed at the Bull Theatre in Barnet in 2012 – is billed as a comic play with songs which is based on the familiar fairy tale and features a huge cast of characters – all of them caricatured by quick change artist Barrie.
Doors open at 7pm for the show which starts at 7.45pm.
Tickets are £8 from the box office on 0750 3324 700 but will also be available on the door.
Barrie said: “I learned my craft on the amateur stage all over the country, and more recently I have trained in visual and physical comedy and worked in street theatre, festivals and seaside entertainment.
“The show uses original songs, innovative props and exciting audio effects – I aim to move the audience from tears to laughter.”
