By combining Internet and smartphone technology with good old-fashioned workplace camaraderie, the Herts Sports Partnership team believes even the most reluctant exercisers in Hertfordshire will be able to stay motivated to maintain their healthy resolutions for 2015.

Last month, the Department of Health set out its ambition to use digital technology and innovation to revolutionise how individuals manage their own health and wellbeing.

Backing this vision, the Herts Sports Partnership team is urging workers across Hertfordshire to kick-start their healthy resolutions by getting together with colleagues and signing up for Workplace Challenge’s eight week challenge – #MyTeam2015.

The #MyTeam2015 electronic leaderboards can be viewed at www.workplacechallenge.org.uk – marking the start of eight weeks of activity-fuelled competition between colleagues as workforces come together to battle it out for the top slot on the leaderboard.

Participants can use Workplace Challenge’s online activity logger and new iPhone app to record all their physical activity alongside friends, colleagues and other workplaces.

HSP Project officer Joe Capon, said: “With everyone returning to work with great intentions for the year ahead, January is the perfect time to come together with colleagues and introduce some healthy habits into your working week.

“However, ambitions for Hertfordshire’s #MyTeam2015 go far beyond simply supporting New Year’s resolutions; it’s about introducing lasting healthy habits into the working week.

“The support and social banter of exercising with colleagues is a great way to not only make getting active more enjoyable, but also to push yourself to remain committed to your healthy goals.”
