It’s a fact that two million more men than women in England are exercising or playing sport regularly, and Sport England research shows that 75 per cent of women would like to do more.
A new initiative – This Girl Can in Herts Week 2015 – aims to address this by inspiring more women and girls in Hertfordshire to be more active.
Taking place from Friday, October 16 to Sunday, October 25, the initiative will bring together a whole range of female-friendly activities and sessions at local clubs and community venues across the county.
The Herts Sports & Physical Activity Partnership (HSP) is working with partners to raise the profile of sport for women and girls and to highlight the vast range of opportunities that are available.
As part of this, they are encouraging local sports clubs and organisations to open up their doors to women and girls during this week by way of female-friendly taster sessions, open days, workshops, courses and competitions.
They can get involved either with something specific for the week’s programme or as part of their weekly schedules.
The HSP have already sourced more than 100 different activities and sessions to choose from – ranging from American football to clubbercise, and cycling to volleyball.
