Tudors have six appeal

Hemel Town stuck six goals past the side with the best defensive record in the league to fire a warning shot across the bows of their Southern Premier League rivals.

Ross Lafayette struck three times with strike partner Dennis Fenemore bagging two at Halesowen Town on Saturday to send them sixth in the league.

Danny May got the other goal in a 6-1 win.

"There will be a few sides coming up against us who will give us more respect than they might've done," said manager Colin Payne.

"We knew their strengths and weaknesses and prepared for them. Ross is one of seven players who has come to us from a lower league so we have caught some teams a bit unawares."

Lafayette has now scored six goals in six games for the Tudors since signing from Wealdstone, while Fenemore, who arrived from Burnham, has five to his name.

Lafayette, 24, was delighted to get his first hat-trick for the club.

"It was a relief!" he said. "Especially to score against Halesowen who have such a strong defensive record.

"I'm looking forward to scoring a lot more I hope this year."

Hemel were home and hosed within 25 minutes of the first whistle.

Right back Danny May headed home a Wayne O'Sullivan cross to open the scoring on nine minutes, with Fenemore doubling the lead from the spot on the quarter hour mark when O'Sullivan was felled.

Lafayette rifled home Hemel's third after 20 minutes, with Fenemore making it four from another O'Sullivan cross five minutes later. Stefan Moore got the Yeltz consolation two minutes later.

With 20 to play Lafayette got onto May's long ball and slotted home and made it six after good work from Aston Goss and the unselfish Fenemore.
