The Tring Park U11s won the County 8-a-side Cricket Cup final at Dunstable Town in an exciting and tense final against Old Albanians.
The semi-finals and final were played on the same day so Tring first had to overcome a strong Bishop’s Stortford side in the morning, before facing OAs in the afternoon.
It was an entertaining final – despite a few rain showers – with some good batting, bowling and fielding by both sides.
Tring batted first and some accurate bowling and fielding by OAs restricted them to 227-2 at the halfway stage.
Man of the match Louie Maishman then scored a quick-fire 22 n/o in the next four overs in an excellent partnership of 37 runs with Will Lindars as Tring posted a target of 284 for OAs to chase.
OAs started their innings well, taking lots of quick singles and hitting any wayward deliveries for 4.
An early wicket from Ed Pike and then some tight bowling from Charlie Woodmansee, Jacob Hendin and Noah Munt kept OAs behind the required run rate and built the pressure on the batsmen.
The fielding across the Tring team was very sharp throughout the day and a couple of run-outs, with skipper Josh Harrison combining with keeper Joe Maggs, ensured OAs finished well short of the required target.
The Tring Park team consisted of: Josh Harrison, Edward Pike, Louie Maishman, Noah Munt, Joe Maggs, Jacob Hendin, Will Lindars and Charlie Woodmansee
