Climbing at the XC in Hemel Hempstead

Climbing at the XC in Hemel Hempstead

It will be all hands to the wall at Hemel Hempstead’s XC extreme sports centre at the weekend as the facility opens its doors for a climbing extravaganza.

Climbers of all abilities are encouraged to take part in the event, with free sessions on offer for rope-competent visitors and half price taster sessions for new climbers.

XC spokesman Harveer Juttla said: “As we have been open for over a year now, and to thank everyone for all their support, we have decided it’s time for a celebration.

“Over the last year, we have endeavoured to continually make improvements to the climbing wall.

“We are committed to providing a regular rotation of high quality routes, and have introduced regular guest setters to help accomplish this – and where better than the open weekend to try them out!”

Other highlights of the weekend will include masterclasses conducted by Neil Gresham – described as Britain’s most experienced coach by Climbing Magazine – a junior competition, and a series of traditional climbing workshops.

The cost to take part in the Neil Gresham masterclass is £45, and pre-booking is essential.
