South Wales Hornets 22 Hemel Stags 26
BARRY John Swindells was the hat-trick hero for Hemel Stags as they dug deep to continue their march at the top of the table.
Stags took the lead after five minutes as stand-off Ryan Butcher switched the point of attack – allowing Swindells to break a tackle and go over.
The hosts levelled the scores five minutes later, before Swindells touched down again to restore the Hemel lead.
Another try followed for the Hornets, and they soon added another to take the lead for the first time in the match.
Hemel hit back five minutes before the interval, however, as centre Christian Champion’s quick play caught South Wales out.
And it was the visitors who struck first in the second half as Jimmy Phillips raced between the posts to extend the Hemel advantage.
Swindells was sent to the sinbin soon afterwards, but despite further pressure and a red card for both sides, Hemel secured the win courtesy of Swindells’ hat-trick try.
