BERKHAMSTED golfer Sam Cutting produced some wonderful golf as he finished runner-up in this month’s Berkhamsted Trophy.
The Trophy is an annual competition held at Berkhamsted Golf Club and past winners include Sandy Lyle and Masters entrant Luke Donald.
Cutting’s second-placed finish is the best performance from a Berkhamsted player for many years.
After an opening round 73, Cutting was lying in 16th place, eight shots adrift of eventual winner Sam Claridge.
Cutting, though, stormed up the leaderboard as he carded a score of 69 in his second round to climb to second place overall.
Claridge, who scored 73 in his second round, eventually pipped Cutting by four shots with his total of 138.
Cutting’s brother Thomas, meanwhile, finished in 59th place overall as he carded rounds of 82 and 75 for a combined total of 157.
