TringRugby put in a lacklustre performance as they went down 33-23 to Guernsey at Cow lane on Saturday afternoon.
A delayed journey to Tring seemingly galvanised the Guernsey side who played keep-ball for most of the match and ran out deserved winners.
The sides swapped two penalties apiece early on before Tring constructed an excellently worked try for Zac Michalski to go over in the corner.
The hosts then went to sleep and two tries within the space of just seven minutes from the Guernsey put the visitors in control.
A try just before half time worsened Tring’s plight as Guernsey went into the break with a 23-11 advantage.
With the game ebbing away, Tring had a purple patch when first Sam Barnes and then Michalski both scored off their respective wings to bring the score to 23-26 with 20 minutes remaining.
Unfazed, Guernsey pressurised Tring’s line for the remainder of the match and with three minutes to go this eventually paid off with a try and conversion to wrap up the win.
Next up for 11th-placed Tring is a trip to ninth-placed Westcombe Park on Saturday afternoon, 2pm kick-off.
