Dacorum & Tring Athletics Club enjoyed a strong finish to the 2012/13 Chiltern League Cross Country series at the weekend, with some superb individual results from the men’s and women’s teams.
Jack Parslow has gone from strength to strength over the season, rising from 15th place in the first event in October to second overall in the senior men’s race in Wing on Saturday – enough to give him the bronze medal in the final overall standings.
Matt Salt led through the first 4km of the 9km course in Wing, eventually finishing sixth overall, which put him in fourth in the series standings.
On the women’s side, Catherine Davies took 20th place in the senior women’s race and second in the F45 category.
Her five consecutive second-placed finishes in F45 were enough to capture the silver medal in the overall series standings.
Heading up the junior ranks, 11-year old James Glyn took ninth spot in the U11 boys’ race and finished the season ranked eighth overall across the five events.
D&T cross country manager John Jales said: “We didn’t have the depth across our age groups this season, due to illness and other commitments, but we’re very proud of these outstanding individual results.
“Many of our members have consistently outperformed athletes from bigger clubs across the seven participating counties.
“We’re thrilled to have won two medals in a very tough competition – Jack’s bronze and Catherine’s silver.”
