Driving rain did not stop a hardy set of runners from completing Tring Running Club’s annual Ridgeway Race.

The tough 15K off-road course took runners through the woods and over the hills of Ashridge, ending back at the cricket club in Tring.

Race director Jane Mitchell said “We had a near record field of 535 finishers and, despite being soaked to the skin as they crossed the line, many still congratulated the club on a great event which was wonderful to hear.

“A big thank you to all the competitors and also to our members, their families and friends, who gave up their time to ensure that the event went so well.”

James Buis took first place overall in a time of 55m 41s, while Zoe Doyle was the first lady home in 1h 7m 59s.
