Promotion going down to the wire for the Berkhamsted first teams

The Berkhamsted ladies' first team still have a shot at promotion

Going in to the last game of the season, the Berko men’s and ladies’ first teams both stand a chance of promotion – both teams need to win and also need other results to go their way, so it’s going to be a nailbiter.

The ladies need to beat Cheshunt and see Harpenden lose against unbeaten Stevenage. It will then come down to goal difference.

The men, meanwhile, need to beat Bishop’s Stortford by two more goals than Hertford, who are playing away at Shefford & Sandy. If goal difference is the same, Berko should get promoted courtesy of having scored more goals.

This weekend the men’s first and second teams had convincing wins against Broxbourne and Blueharts, 5-1 and 5-2 respectively.

The men’s fifths beat Stevenage 2-0, while the thirds can count themselves unlucky to have drawn 3-3 against St Albans.

The men’s fourths were involved in an exciting 4-3 defeat against Blueharts, and the ladies’ first team lost 2-0 to unbeaten Stevenage – but the low number of goals conceded could make a big difference in the promotion battle.

Elsewhere, a number of Berko players were representing Hertfordshire at the weekend, with Thomas Moorhouse, Oli Johnson and James Godsell playing against Norfolk and Lincolnshire.
