A group of 28 hardy competitors from Tring Running Club waded, splashed and fought their way round the wet and muddy Hardwick X-Stream course to claim a deserved victory.
The challenging six-mile course was made extra tough due to the recent torrential rain, but Tring saw off a host of rivals to take both the men’s and ladies’ team prizes at the event hosted by Bearbrook Running Club.
Greg O’Callaghan led the way for Tring, coming home in 16th place overall in a time of 40 minutes and 33 seconds, one minute and eight seconds ahead of Michael Burgess in 24th place.
Domonic Evans was next home for Tring in 27th place in 43m 43s, with Alan Whelan in 29th in 42m, 56s and Mark Hadaway in 32nd in a time of 43m, 04s.
Trevor Lark followed in 41st place as he finished in 44m, 03s, while Sean Gregory also finished inside the top-50 as he clocked 44m, 50s to claim 43rd position.
The other members of the Tring team were John Manning, Paul Bayley, Verna Burgess, Liz O’Keefe, Hillary Warrell, Craig Thomas, Simon Stevenson, Tom Hallett, Geoff Head, Nigel Kippax, Claire Mistry, Peter Alford, Simon Jessop, Alice Ely, Robert Fryer, Brian Layton, Andrew Lloyd-Callachund, James Craft, Sue Cox, Daniella Cox and Tara Eastmead.
Burgess was sixth female finisher overall.
