FALCONS Netball Club staged a battle of the sexes in a charity netball fundraiser.

The mixed tournament was held to raise money for Home-Start, with some funds also going to the club. Over £300 was accumulated over the course of the event.

The D’n’L boys’ team, captained by Chris Bishop, triumphed overall – beating Falcons 7-6 in the final of the competition at Ashlyns School.

It was a close-run affair, with the D’n’L team – consisting mainly of basketball players – scoring the winner with just 30 seconds left on the clock.

After the tournament ended, players visited Falcons’ sponsor The George and Dragon pub in Northchurch for the medal presentation, raffle, barbecue and musical entertainment from The Amigos.

Falcons’ Felicity Beardshaw said: “Luckily the weather was on our side and made the day even more enjoyable for all! We will be organising another mixed charity tournament next year.”
