IT was an up-and-down weekend for Berkhamsted as they recorded a mixed set of results.
The pick of the scores went to the men’s second team who did well edge closer to promotion with a draw against the already promoted Southgate Adelaide.
The men’s thirds, meanwhile, lost for the first time in 17 games, but the ladies third team picked up a good win against Marlow.
The men’s seconds knew they needed something from their clash with Southgate in order to maintain their promotion push.
It was Adelaide who took the lead against the run of play, but Berko replied with goals from Oli Bowman and Roger Payton to take a 2-1 advantage.
With only 50 seconds left, it looked as though Berko were heading for the win, but Southgate showed why they are top of the league as they forced home an equaliser.
The men’s thirds meanwhile, saw their promotion hopes hit as they were edged out 2-1 by Harpenden, despite a goal from Gordon Squire.
It was better news for the ladies’ thirds, however, as they saw off Marlow 2-1 despite playing with no goalkeeper.
After going behind, Berko earned the win through Sophie Beard and Sarah Harris.
The men’s firsts lost 3-0 to Royston.
