AFTER a year-long absence, Hemel Hempstead racing driver Matt Hamilton has announced that he will be back on the grid at the start of 2012.
Matt, 21, is part of a new Dunlop MSA British Touring Car project and will again be working with TH Motorsport as they build a Skoda Octavia VRS to the Next Generation Touring Car regulations.
Matt raced with TH Motorsport in a BTC spec Honda Civic Type R at the end of 2009, and the start of 2010.
Since Matt’s last race at Oulton Park in June 2010, he has been concentrating on finishing his university degree and promoting his driver coaching business.
However, he says he cannot wait to get back on the BTCC grid.
“This is incredibly exciting,” Matt said.
“Being part of such a project is going to be very challenging, but I have great confidence in Trevor Humphrey and all the guys at TH Motorsport to build a very competitive car.
“We want to have the Skoda running on track before the end of the year, so that when we start the 2012 season, we can really hit the ground running and show the true potential of the NGTC regulations.
“After driving my seven-year-old Honda last time out, I cannot wait to get in the new machine, and put it through its paces.”
